How to Assemble a Prestige Stethoscope
Prestige Medical manufactures stethoscopes that are designed with basic components that fit together logically for easy assembly. The logic in assembly is based upon the medical tools' intended uses. Prestige stethoscopes allow medical health professionals to listen to the activity of patients' internal organs. Their design is comprised of metal and plastic tubing that connects the sound capturing mechanism of the stethoscope, the chest piece, to the pieces designed to remit the sound to practitioner's ear, the ear tips. Proper assembly of the Prestige stethoscope ensures optimum listening ability and evidence for diagnoses and treatment plans.Things You'll Need

1
Locate the plastic ear tips. Designed especially to fit inside the ears, Prestige stethoscope ear tips are the smallest pieces for the stethoscope, rubbery to the touch and conical in shape. Set the ear tips aside in an accessible place.
-
2
Remove your Prestige stethoscope's binaural spring. It is flexible and malleable, and is identifiable by its two ends with open holes for stethoscope piece attachments. One end is open for the ear tips and the other for the stethoscope's tubing. Locate the binaural spring's ear tubes. They make up the two open ends of the spring that curve inward toward each other. The stethoscope's ear tips are made to tightly fit around the ends of the ear tubes. Slide the ear tips over the ends of the ear tubes until the fit is snug.

3
Take out the stethoscope's tubing set. It is plastic. One end will have two tube extensions turned upward for attachment to the binaural spring, and the long end will have one extension for the chest piece attachment. Slide the dual ends of the stethoscope tubing over the remaining open ends of the binaural spring.

4
Locate the stethoscope's chest piece. As indicated by its name, the chest piece is placed against patients' chests and backs to listen to internal activity. The chest piece has a short metal extension that will fit neatly into the long end of your Prestige stethoscope's tubing. Insert the chest piece into the remaining open end of the tubing.

5
Locate the stethoscope's diaphragm set. The diaphragm set consists of a small and a large diaphragm designed to filter sound delivered through the chest piece. The smaller diaphragm is a thin, transparent snap-on piece with small holes like a sieve. Place it onto the chest piece. Cover it with the larger, solid, opaque diaphragm until it snaps into place.
-
6
Take out the stethoscope's rim. It is circular like a wheel. Slide it over the diaphragm and its cover. Screw it into the perforated grooves on the outer rim of the chest piece. The Prestige stethoscope's rim secures the chest piece's diaphragms, ensuring that they do not fall out while the stethoscope is in use.
