Avelox Product Information
Avelox is the brand name for moxifloxacin, an antibiotic used to fight a wide variety of bacterial infections. Manufactured by Bayer HealthCare Pharmaceuticals, Inc., Avelox kills bacteria by halting the production of essential proteins that help the bacteria to survive.-
Allergies

People who are allergic to other antibiotics -- including ciprofloxacin, ofloxacin, norfloxacin, levofloxacin and lomefloxacin -- should not take Avelox. As with other medications, you should discuss your health history with a physician before you start taking Avelox.
Dosage

Avelox comes in one strength, 400 mg, and is prescribed to be taken once a day. The medicine is available as a tablet or an injection and may be taken with or without food. Avelox can be taken anytime during the day, but at the same time each day to ensure that approximately 24 hours pass between each dose.
Side Effects

Like all medicine, Avelox may produce side effects that include dizziness, nausea or diarrhea. These side effects are rare; most patients tolerate the medicine very well. It is recommended that you check with your doctor or pharmacist for any drug interactions Avelox may have with medication you are presently taking.
