Teen Alcohol & Violence Rehab

According to the American Medical Association, violence and alcohol use contribute to the three leading causes of death among 12- to 20-year-old young people. Rehab programs for teens vary by the severity of the addiction and the teen's willingness to participate in rehabilitation.
  1. Inpatient

    • Inpatient centers give teens addicted to drinking a chance to receive both medical treatment and therapy in order to recover from alcoholism and violent behavior. A teen will live at the treatment center to receive as much treatment as he needs. The center will release him when his addiction abates.

    Outpatient

    • Outpatient treatment includes giving teens the opportunity to attend Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) meetings and receive individual or group treatment, but the teen does not live in the center. Individual treatment provides a safe, confidential forum for the teen to speak, while group counseling with other teenagers provides a connection and support network.

    Issues

    • Teen rehab programs speak directly to the addiction and violence issues that teens face. They provide treatment and support and sometimes also address the issues of peer pressure and self-image. One of the main purposes of rehab is to identify the reasons for alcoholism or violent behavior.
