How to Become an Enrolled Nurse
An enrolled nurse is an entry level position in the Australia and New Zealand healthcare industries. This nursing position works under the immediate supervision and guidance of a registered nurse, providing essential medical care to patients in hospitals and nursing homes. Additional education is required to become an enrolled nurse. A student must have completed year 12 with passing grades in English and at minimum one science course to enroll for nursing school.Instructions

Choose the nursing school you want to attend. Ask the program directors and instructors any questions you might have about enrolling in their nursing program. You may want to look into Technical and Further Education Institutes, since they offer the largest selection of nursing programs in Australia. Consider their schools as a starting point and possible schooling option if you like what you see and hear.

Apply for admittance to your selected vocational school. When accepted, enroll for the Diploma of Nursing training program. You will need to complete all required classes and exams to earn your Diploma of Nursing certification. This Division 2 nursing program takes 18 months to complete on average. Once you are finished, you will receive your diploma and officially recognized as an enrolled nurse.

Apply for EN openings at hospitals, nursing homes and other healthcare organizations. Your vocational school may also provide job placement assistance, so be sure to check with them long before you have completed your training. Many graduates are able to transition from training to job placement in a few weeks.
