There are many machines commonly used in medical science. Some machines are fairly new, while some have been around for many years. One thing they have in common: all of them are critical. If you spend any time at the doctor or in a hospital, you are more than likely to see one or more of these high-priced pieces of medical equipment.

    • Defibrillators apply sharp electric shocks to the heart area and are generally used on someone undergoing cardiac arrest. Long a staple of medical dramas, defibrillators are commonly-used pieces of medical equipment in hospitals and emergency rooms.

    Ultrasound Machines

    • Ultrasound machines are versatile pieces of medical equipment. Although most commonly used during pregnancy, ultrasound machines can also provide early detection of health problems such as tumors and blood clots.

    Sphygmomanometer

    • Sphygmomanometer is the technical name for the common device used for taking blood pressure. There are many styles of sphygmomanometers, from simple manual ones to completely computerized digital ones.

    X-ray Machines

    • X-ray machines have been around for more than 100 years. An almost indispensable part of medicine, X-rays can be used to photograph bones and internal organs.

    Dialysis Machines

    • Dialysis machines are life-savers for people with kidney damage or failure. They filter out excess water and waste products, in essence doing the job the damaged kidneys can no longer perform.
