How to Check the Batteries in a Zoll AED

Zoll Automated External Defibrillator (AED) monitors use rechargeable lithium battery packs to power the monitor during portable use. Battery life depends on how often and how well the battery pack is recharged after each monitor use, and the monitor should be checked regularly to ensure the battery pack is functional and charged. Zoll recommends replacing battery packs after 18 months to prevent monitor failure from aged batteries. You can check the current battery power on a Zoll AED monitor in a few simple steps.

Instructions

    • 1

Plug the Zoll monitor into a power source using the appropriate power adapter. Turn the monitor on and allow the device to power up.

    • 2

Allow the monitor to complete a self-check. Wait while the monitor completes all components of the self-check, including battery power determination.

    • 3

Watch the indicator light in the right upper hand corner of the monitor for color change. Ensure the indicator light is green upon completion of the self-check, which indicates good battery life and proper functioning of the monitor.

    • 4

Initiate a self-check of the Zoll monitor if you wish to check, or double-check, the battery life. Do this by holding the on/off button down for five seconds. Wait while the monitor performs a check and ensure the indicator light is green upon completion.
