Types of Nursing Scrubs
-
Requirements
-
Some places of employment require that all employees wear the same type of scrubs. In this case, scrubs are often supplied by the employer; the main problem is finding your size if all the scrubs are stored in a central location.
Materials
-
Cotton is comfortable, but may wrinkle and stain more easily than polyester-blend scrubs. Scrubs that are too stiff are uncomfortable to wear; microfibers are soft and hang nicely.
Fit
-
Scrubs have to fit "just right". Too tight, and scrubs might split while you're working; too loose, and patients can look down your shirt when you bend over, plus you won't look professional.
Patterns
-
Some patterns are cute, but may be unprofessional at times, since nursing can involve life and death situations. Silly patterns might distract or offend a grieving family.
Buying
-
Scrubs can be bought online, at specialty stores and some discount stores. Trying them on is a good idea; brands fit differently. If you find a brand you like that fits well, order them online.
