Why Are Chiropractors Important to Have?

Chiropractors are also known as doctors of chiropractic, and chiropractic physicians. Chiropractors are important because they offer the option of healing without the use of medication and surgery. The chiropractor focuses on the alignment of the spine, on soft tissue and on the nervous system.
  1. Types of Treatment

    • Chiropractic treatment is based on the belief that restricted movement in the spine can be the cause of reduced function and pain. Spinal manipulation is one form of therapy used to improve function; other therapies include massage, stretching, ultrasound and electrical muscle stimulation.

    For Back Pain

    • According to the Mayo Clinic, studies have found spinal manipulation to be effective in the treatment of low back pain. Spinal manipulation has become the accepted treatment for this condition and is no longer considered alternative.

    For Headaches

    • Chiropractic manipulation can be effective in relieving cervicogenic headaches; these are headaches that start in the back of the head or neck.

    For Neck Pain

    • Chiropractic manipulation can be beneficial for improving uncomplicated whiplash and neck problems, particularly if structural problems are causing the pain. A structural problem would mean the bones, tendons, joints, ligaments and/or muscles are not functioning properly.

    For Sciatica

    • In the treatment of sciatica, an inflammation of the sciatic nerve, physical therapy modalities offered by a chiropractor are included among the treatments. These treatments include therapeutic massage, electrical currents and ultrasound.
