How to Prepare Albendazole
Albendazole is a medication used to prevent parasite larvae from hatching and multiplying in your body. It works by absorbing the sugars that the worms feed on, starving them to death. Albendazole is usually taken by mouth in tablet form. Generally, these tablets are swallowed like any other pill. However, the size of the tablets or a medical condition may prevent some patients from swallowing albendazole whole, making other preparations necessary.Things You'll Need

1
Spread out an old towel on a sturdy, flat surface. Lay a square of plastic wrap the same size as the towel. Place your dose of albendazole in the center of the plastic wrap.
-
2
Fold the towel and plastic wrap over the tablet. Hold the hammer close to the head and grind it against the tablet through the towel. Press firmly, tapping if necessary to help break up the albendazole.

3
Grind the tablet into powder and scoop the powder up with a spoon. Pour a little juice into the spoon and swallow, or sprinkle the albendazole over oatmeal and stir in thoroughly. The oatmeal or juice will help mask the flavor of the crushed tablet.
