How to Arrange an Air Ambulance Transfer
Instructions
-
-
1
Use the search term "air ambulance" online or in a telephone directory to find services that operate in the area the transfer will originate from.
-
2
Call the air ambulance services or visit their websites to gain further information on the services they offer and how they conduct the patient transfer.
-
3
Discuss your specific needs with a representative. Provide details about the health conditions of the individual that will be transferred. Inquire about the costs and the possibility of whether the patient's health insurance will cover portions of the cost.
-
4
Arrange for a road ambulance and EMS team to drive the patient to the airport or helicopter pad the air ambulance will depart from. A family member or friend may be able to travel with the patient in the air ambulance if so desired.
-
5
Arrange for a second road ambulance to meet the air ambulance at the destination airport or helicopter pad. Be sure to contact the ambulance services ahead of time so that you are not interfering with emergencies.
