Effects of 60 Mgs of Cymbalta

Cymbalta is the brand name of the generic duloxetine drugs that are used for the treatment of both the emotional and physical symptoms of depression. Cymbalta may also be used to treat the pain that many diabetics experience as a result of their condition, as well as pain associated with fibromyalgia.
  1. Administration

    • Because 60 milligrams of Cymbalta regulates brain chemicals, it is important that the pills be taken at approximately the same time each day. This ensures that a consistent amount of the drug is always present in the body so that the medications works correctly. Cymbalta in all doses can be taken with or without food, and never more often than directed by a physician.

    Possible Interactions

    • To reduce the risk of negative side effects, a doctor will review the patient's health conditions and advise them to avoid other medications that would negatively interact with 60 milligrams of Cymbalta. Before beginning to take the drug, patients should inform their doctor if they have experienced any of the following: kidney disease, suicidal thoughts, attempts at suicide, if they are pregnant or breast feeding, or allergic to foods, dyes or other medications. A doctor should warn patients to avoid other medications that include: tryptophan, St. John's Wort, aspirin, and medications for blood pressure.

    Adverse Reactions/Effects

    • Watch for worsening symptoms of depression and suicidal thoughts as well as sudden changes in mood, such as sudden feelings of anxiety and aggression. Hyperactivity and insomnia may also result from ingesting 60 milligrams of Cymbalta. Cymbalta may also increase blood pressure and cause episodes of dizziness. These symptoms should be reported to a doctor or physician immediately, in addition to: confusion, fever, diarrhea, vomiting, unusual bruising and bleeding, hallucinations, and seizures.

    Typical Side Effects

    • Typical side effects include headaches, change in appetite, changes in sex drives and performance, nausea, blurred vision, vertigo and sweating that's not associated with physical activity. These side effects are less threatening and do not need to be reported to a doctor unless they persist for several days.

    Warnings

    • As with all medications, Cymbalta should be kept out of reach of children. Patients taking 60 milligrams of Cymbalta should never take higher or lower doses unless directed by a physician. Patients should avoid driving and operating any type of machinery until they know how the medication and dosage will affect them individually.
