    • There are a high percentage of radiologists who have been in practice over 30 years. In one study, these radiologists were over 25 percent of all practicing radiologists reviewed. The longer in practice, the higher the salary.

    Area of the Country

    • In the northeast of the U.S., the average salary was over $381,000 per year. In the southeast, the average salary was over $411,000 per year. The mid-west made over $398,000 per year. The southwest made over $434,000 per year; the western part of the U.S. made over $362,000 per year.

    Salary by City

    • In New York City, the average salary was averaging $336,000. In Houston, the average salary was $296,000. In Los Angeles, the average salary was $320,000. In Miami, the average salary was $290,000. In Seattle, the average salary was $310,000.

    Number of Employees

    • If a radiologist had less than 25 employees, the average salary is $340,000 per year. If the facility had between 300 to 3000 employees, the average salary is $367,000 per year. If there are over 15,000 employees, the average salary is $376,000 per year.

    Subspecialities

    • Diagnostic interventional radiologists, who actually perform both procedures and reading radiology films, median salary has increased up to 34 percent. A diagnostic non-interventional radiologist, who only reads the films, median salary increased 32 percent.
