Affordable Health & Dental Insurance for Individuals
Health and dental care is expensive. Insurance can help pay part of the cost. However, health insurance costs are rising and it may be difficult to find coverage you can afford. Insurance can protect you from bankruptcy as a result of your medical bills. It can also protect your assets.-
Work Insurance
-
If you have a preexisting condition or a family history of serious complications then you may find the most affordable coverage through the group plan offered by your employer. The rates are set no matter what your medical condition, which means you will likely pay less than you would for individual coverage. You cannot be denied access to this plan for medical conditions. This is a good option if you are currently employed. Your employer may also pay a portion of the premium, further reducing your cost.
Independent Insurance
-
If you are healthy or self-employed you may find affordable coverage through an individual plan. These plans will look at your medical history and set the premiums depending on your health. A high-deductible plan with no co-insurance often has lower monthly premiums, and is considered one of the best values. However you must meet your deductible before coverage starts. Once you meet that deductible you should have no other co-insurance costs through the year. You can choose a more traditional plan, as well.
Dental insurance
-
Dental insurance may be available through your employer or as an individual plan. Often the premiums are close to the maximum amount the plan will pay. If this is the case you may be better off paying on your own. Many dentists expect you to file insurance claims yourself. The dental insurance may only agree to pay a set amount for procedures, and you will have to pay the remainder on your own.
Dental Discount Cards
-
A dental discount card can also reduce the amount you pay for dental care. Dental discount cards start at $100.00 per person. The cards work by having a network of dentists who agree to charge a reduced rate for procedures to people who hold the card. It can reduce the amount you pay for x-rays, check ups and other dental care. This option may cost the least because there is no limit to the amount of discounts you receive. You can choose your plan by looking at the amount each procedure will cost and finding out if your dentist accepts the card.
