Where Can I Find an In-Network Provider That Accepts Cigna Insurance?

No matter what type of health insurance you have, you can enjoy lower rates and fewer paperwork hassles if you choose an in-network provider. If you get your health insurance from Cigna, you can log on to the company website and search for providers in a number of ways, including by specialty and type of service.
  1. Insurance Card

    • If you prefer to speak to a telephone representative, call the toll-free number listed on your insurance card. Cigna uses a number of different toll-free numbers for customer service; the one on the back of your card can get you the fastest service. If you get your Cigna insurance through your employer, the number on the back of your card should connect you with the call center serving your employer's workforce. Once you are connected, request information about in-network providers in your area.

    Internet Access

    • When you signed up for Cigna insurance, your employer might have given you a packet of information that included a special website link. If you have access to a dedicated website, log onto that site using your user name, then use the search function to find providers in your area. If you do not have access to a customized website, simply use the network provider search function on the main Cigna website (see Resources).

    Physician Type

    • The Cigna website classifies the physicians, nurse practitioners and other medical professionals it works with according to their specialty, and the more information you can provide, the more precise your search results can be. The website allows individuals to search for a doctor or other medical provider by name; to see if your doctor participates with Cigna, simply type her name. You can also filter your results by specialty, allowing you to get a list of all the Cigna network pediatricians, cardiologists, general practitioners and so on.

    Type of Facility

    • You can filter your search to return the type of facility you are seeking. If, for instance, you are looking for an urgent care center for a sprained ankle or swollen jaw, you can search for that type of facility. If you need to find an in-network hospital or outpatient clinic to schedule an elective procedure, you can do that as well. To find the closest in-network facilities, enter your ZIP code.
