Tricare Reserve Select Limits
Tricare is a health care program set up for U.S. Military members, their families and service members who are retired. With reasonable costs and comprehensive coverage, the program encourages regular medical care, maintaining good health with low prescription costs and helps cover major medical expenses. Tricare Reserve Select is a premium-based coverage plan for selected reserve members based on their qualifications.-
Coverage
-
Under Reserve Select, Tricare will pay 85 percent of the negotiated rate of care through in-network providers. Providers who are not in network receive 20 percent of the allowable amount approved by Tricare. The maximum out-of-pocket portion is $3,000, except for active duty families who have a maximum of $1,000. Premium payments, co-pays and uncovered expenses count toward this cap. Service members are not required to pay a co-pay for services but family members may, depending on the services provided.
Premium Pricing
-
An individual premium is $49.62, while a family plan is $197.65, regardless of the family size. This is the base cost of all Tricare plans, except for active duty service members who do not pay premiums for Tricare.
Additional Coverage Options
-
Dental coverage is also included with Tricare Reserve Select for an additional cost. For preventative care, Tricare will cover 80 percent of the cost. For endodontic, orthodontic and other additional dental services, Tricare will cover 50 to 80 percent. Specialty services, such as autism care and cancer treatment, are also available for qualifying members.
