How Do I Find a United Healthcare Dentist?

United Healthcare is one of the subsidiaries of United Health Group, the largest health insurance provider in the United States. According to the company's website, United Healthcare covers doctors' visits, prescription drugs and dental services to over 70 million people, and its provider networks include over 80,000 dentists. There are three main ways to find a United Healthcare dentist.

  Use the UHC dental search tool. United Healthcare provides online directories of dentists in its networks, organized by health or dental plan. Its member dental portal (see Reference section) provides a complete list of all of United Healthcare's insurance plans that include dental coverage; once you select your plan, you can search for a dentist in your provider network by entering your city and state. You may also enter your home address, and the tool will locate an in-network dentist close to your home.

  Search through UHC's provider search tools. United Healthcare allows you to find a dentist through its online provider search tool, a more detailed search tool that lets you search United Healthcare's master provider directory. You can also refine your search using multiple variables, such as the dentist's gender, languages spoken or whether the dentist is accepting new patients.

  Ask United Healthcare customer service. Call the customer service number located on the back of your United Healthcare member card, and ask customer service staff to help you find an in-network dentist in your area. You will have to provide your member number and verify your name and address as part of the search.
