Discount Drug Programs

Discount drug programs are available free of charge to Americans that meet certain income requirements and are not otherwise eligible or enrolled in an insurance program that offers prescription drug coverage. These programs enable people to afford potentially life saving medications that may have been left on the shelf previously.

Together Rx Access

• Together Rx Access offers a discount prescription drug card that grants the user a discount of anywhere from 25-40 percent on 300 brand name and generic prescription medications. Those that are not eligible for Medicare, have no prescription drug coverage of any kind and have a household income of less than $45,000 are eligible for this discount drug program. Minimum income requirements are on a sliding scale based on the total size of the family applying for a discount card.

Rx Assist

• Rx Assist is a prescription drug assistance program administered by pharmaceutical companies. Those whose income is under 200 percent of the federal poverty level, cannot have health insurance from public or private sources and are United States citizens are eligible for this program. Applicants are required to provide proof of income such as pay stubs, proof of Medicaid or other insurance denial and submit information on any prescription drugs currently being taken.

Needy Meds

• Needy Meds is a nonprofit organization founded in 1997 devoted to assisting those that cannot find health insurance coverage and are having difficulty paying for medications. This organization provides information for many generic and brand name discount drug programs so that a patient can tailor a program to his specific needs. Needy Meds currently has over 200 separate application forms for discount drug programs available across the country.

Your Rx Card

• Your Rx Card is a discount prescription drug program that enables the bearer to save as much as 75 percent on brand name and generic pharmaceuticals. The card is accepted at over 57,000 pharmacies nationwide. Generic drugs receive the greatest discount when purchased using this card.
