How to Apply for Permanent Total Disability (PTD) Benefits
Permanent total disability provides monthly cash payments for any person unable to work. Receiving disability benefits involves a process of determining both the severity of the medical condition and the ability to work. The decision is based not only on the ability to do the current or most recent job but also whether or not any work can be performed. Disability benefits are available for all insured workers and uninsured workers through the Social Security Administration (SSA). Contact the local SSA office or apply online at the SSA website. Although specific requirements may be different with some private disability insurance providers, most follow SSA procedures for determining disability insurance eligibility.Things You'll Need
