California Prescription Drug Assistance

A number of organizations and programs exist to help Californians who are having trouble paying for their prescription drugs. These include government programs, industry programs and private charities.
  1. HIV/AIDS

    • The California Office of AIDS has the responsibility of handling all programs and resources devoted to HIV and AIDS. While there are a number of possible avenues of help they will be the best resource to find out which programs you qualify for. The California AIDS Hotline at (800) 367-2437 can also give you information.

    Industry Programs

    • For Californians these programs include NeedyMeds, Inc., the Partnership for Prescription Assistance, RxAssist and Medicine for People in Need (Medpin). Each of these has its own methods and requirements.

    Community Based Organizations

    • Goodwill Industries, the California Foundation for Independent Living Centers, the Acess to Benefits Coalition and Protection and Advocacy, Inc. all have programs that might help with prescription costs.
