  1. Troubleshooting

    • 1

Assign a designated staff member in your office to be responsible for monitoring your system's performance. The actual tasks that need to be performed are based on your version of Medical Manager and any add-on modules you may be using. Your employee should communicate regularly with the vendor you purchased your system from to determine if they have made upgrades, patches, data changes or any functionality modifications. Expect your vendor to alert you when there is a change but double check on a regular basis. If you do not have a staff member with IT skills, your vendor may offer support for an additional charge. Another option is using an outside consultant to upgrade and help with detailed troubleshooting.

    • 2

Determine the version of Medical Manger your office is using. Technology is updated on a regular and sometimes irregular, basis. Knowing your version is essential to be sure that you can access the correct support information for your product. Suppose, the engine in your car works well, but if you remove it from your car and put it in a new model it might not work as well. Often, changes in the car's system are made under the hood which results in lack of performance for an older engine. The same is true of a Medical Manager.

    • 3

Upgrade your system as new improvements become available. The latest version of Medical Manager includes new security and privacy enhancements based on legislative requirements under the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act or HIPAA. Being HIPAA compliant is an important step towards managing patient privacy.

    • 4

Monitor your Internet connection or server speed. Be sure you are running at a compatible operating system. As new versions of Medical Manager are released, there is a possibility that OS requirements will change. Be sure to instruct your staff member responsible for monitoring changes to read each vendor communication carefully to determine if there has been a change. If you encounter a new requirement, you may need to update your operating system. Check with your vendor.

    • 5

Store your data carefully. If you use a CD to install Medical Manager, do not remove it from the office. CDs can be damaged by extreme temperature. If you download access from the Internet, be sure you are pointing to the data for your version and operating system. When you get an error message, copy the text and contact your vendor or consultant for help. Do not continue to run your system if you are receiving error messages. It is important to solve the problem as soon as possible.

Check your printer default setting if you are having trouble printing your data. The specific steps will depend on the operating system you are running, but generally, go to the Start Menu, Programs, Medical Manager, Administrator and Printer Controls. Be sure the printer you have designated is assigned the print task. You may also have a direct problem with your printer which will need additional troubleshooting assistance from your printer vendor.
