MRI Compatible Monitors
Magnetic resonance imaging, (MRI) is a procedure that makes use of electromagnetic fields to scan patients and determine the severity of certain injuries. Due to the electromagnetic fields, conventional monitoring equipment and accessories cannot operate properly in a MRI environment. In some cases, it is necessary to monitor different physiologic parameters such as heart rate, respiration and blood pressure in patients during a MRI procedure. Special MRI-compatible monitors were developed for this purpose.-
InVivo Precess
-
Precess monitors are designed for MRI use and work on a replaceable battery system. The device incorporates 2.5 gigahertz wireless technology to increase throughput for electrocardiography and oxygen measurement (SPO2) applications. Precess features noninvasive as well as dual-invasive blood pressure monitoring systems, as well as low flow end-tidal carbon dioxide monitoring. Shorter cables reduce the risk of damage due to cable heating. Precess is suitable for pediatric, cardiac, anesthesia, research and sedation magnetic resonance procedures. The monitor works on an intuitive operating system and also features an MRI-compatible recorder and a 12-inch color display.
Datex-Ohmeda
-
Datex-Ohmeda is mentioned in the Ontario Health Technology Assessment Series as one of three MRI-compatible monitor systems that are available in Canada. The Datex-Ohmeda's MRI compatibility allows for the monitor to be placed close to the patient. The device has electrocardiographic, haemodynamic and gas monitoring capabilities, designed for the MRI environment. It features fiber optic connections and dedicated accessories such as alarms for safe operation in the magnetic field. Datex-Ohmeda comes with a remote control option and a color screen to display all relevant patient data.
iMM MRI Monitor
-
The iMM monitor system has a MRI-compatible design that enables the monitor to be placed near to the patient during a MRI scan. It can be used with MRI scanners up to 3 Tesla and allows remote monitoring from outside the MRI room with a remote iTouch pad. The iMM features ECG, heamodynamic and gas monitoring capabilities. The iMM has connectors that enable data transfer between the MRI room and other care areas. It displays all the patient data on a color screen, and adjusts the data automatically to maximize the size of values and waveforms.
