Oregon State Home Health Care Requirements

Home health care agencies provide in-home nursing and rehabilitation services. Home health agencies are required to fulfill state-specific requirements to receive funding. The Department of Health has established standards for home health care agencies in Oregon state.
  1. Service Providers

    • Home health agencies must provide skilled nursing services and at least one additional rehabilitative service. These services may include physical, occupational or speech therapy; social work; or the assistance of an aide for activities of daily living.

    Supervision/Documentation

    • Services provided by home health care workers are supervised by a physician or nurse practitioner. A registered nurse may also supervise nursing-related home health services if she is not the person providing the services. Each non-nursing health care professional has discipline-specific requirements for supervision of services. All home health agency providers must document their interventions in compliance with Department of Health standards.

    Licensure

    • An application and fee must be submitted to the Department of Health for licensing as a home health agency. The Department of Health will make a determination and grant licensure if the agency is in compliance and meets their requirements. An annual inspection may be performed by the Department of Health to assess ongoing compliance.
