Instructions for an Omron HEM-637

The Omron Company manufactures a variety of products, including industrial automation, automotive electronics, electronic components and health care items. Some of its health care products include personal and professional devices such as digital thermometers, nebulizers, pedometers, patient monitors and blood pressure monitors. The HEM-637 is a blood pressure monitor that is designed for use on the wrist with an advanced positioning sensor (APS).

      Install batteries into the monitor. Push down on the battery cover and slide to the right to remove the battery compartment cover. Insert two "AAA" batteries into the compartment with the flat side of each battery placed against a spring. Push into place and slide the battery compartment cover back into place.

      Press "SET" several times until the time is displayed. Press the arrow buttons to set the current year and push "SET" to confirm. Repeat to set the month, day, hour and minute on the display. Press "SET" to confirm.

      Select the wrist on which the blood pressure monitor will be worn. Push "SET" several times until the word "Wrist" is displayed. Push the arrow button to choose "Left" or "Right" wrist. Press "SET" to lock.

      Place the wrist cuff over the desired wrist with the thumb facing toward the ceiling. Leave approximately ½ inch between the wrist cuff and the bottom of the palm. The blood pressure monitor should be in line with the thumb, facing upwards. Tighten and secure the Velcro wrist strap.

      Press "START/STOP" to begin the blood pressure reading. Hold the arm still when the arrow on the display is aligned with the heart mark, typically when the arm is held horizontally at chest level. The monitor will beep when the arm position is correct and the measurement will begin. Note that the wrist cuff will tighten during the reading. The down arrow will flash on the display when the reading is finished and the wrist cuff will deflate.

      Store the results by pressing the "MEMORY" button.
