1
Contact the Department of Health and Human Services in your state to inquire about any training required to receive a home care agency license. This training usually involves passing a course at a local training center, such as the Homecare Workers Training Center.
-
2
Once you've received the necessary training, submit an application to the Department of Health and Human Services in your state. The application can usually be found online or by contacting the Department.
-
3
Be prepared for an inspection, or survey, of all properties you plan to use to operate your home care agency. The inspection will be conducted by the Department of Health and Human Services in your state. In order to pass the inspection, you need to comply with all requirements outlined by the Department. You will learn these requirements during your training course.
-
4
Make all records regarding your home care agency available for inspection by the Department of Health and Human Services. These records include your annual budget, number of staff members and their individual roles, client demographics, service categories, and price information. After you pass all inspections, you will be issued a home care agency license.
-
5
After you receive your home care agency license, be prepared to undergo inspections and total operation evaluations made by the Department of Health and Human Services at least once a year. Successfully passing all inspections and evaluations is necessary to keep your home care agency license and will require adhering to all the rules outlined by the Department of Health and Human Services in your state.
