Envoy Invacare Nebulizer Directions

The Envoy nebulizer from Invacare disperses liquid medications into the mouth and respiratory passages as an aerosol mist that is easy to inhale and that quickly enters the lungs. It is used in home healthcare to treat conditions such as asthma, respiratory infections and chronic lung disease. This model is easy-to-use, and you do not need medical training or experience to use it. Therefore, you can purchase it from local, chain and online retailers without a doctor's prescription, even if the medication you will be using with it requires a prescription.

Instructions

    • 1

Place the Envoy unit on a table or stand, so that you can easily reach the controls when seated.

    • 2

Lift the latch of the storage compartment at the left of the unit and pull it out with your fingers to open it.

    • 3

Remove the nebulizer assembly -- the canister and mouthpiece -- and the air tubing from the storage compartment.

    • 4

Connect one end of the tubing to the compressor air outlet that is located above the power switch; sliding it onto the outlet. Connect the other end to the bottom of the nebulizer. In the event of high humidity, run the unit for two minutes before connecting the tubing to the compressor.

    • 5

Add liquid medication to the nebulizer container with a dropper, according to your doctor's instructions.

    • 6

Verify that the power switch is in the off position. Extend the line cord from the storage compartment in the back of your Envoy and plug it into a regular wall outlet.

    • 7

Insert the nebulizer mouthpiece into the top of the nebulizer and switch the power on.

    • 8

Place the mouthpiece between your front teeth and close your mouth.

    • 9

Inhale slowly and deeply as the aerosol begins to flow, hold your breath for ten seconds, and exhale through the nebulizer mouthpiece.

    • 10

Repeat the inhalation and exhalation process, until you finish the medication or according to your doctor's instruction.
