What is a benefit for SOFA service members?
SOFA status grants several privileges and benefits to service members, including:

- Customs exemptions: SOFA members are also exempt from customs duties and taxes when importing personal items into Japan.

- Access to military installations: SOFA members have access to U.S. military installations in Japan, including base exchanges, commissaries, and other facilities.
