1
Use a phone to call 911 as quickly as you can if it is a life-or-death emergency. Give the operator the details of your emergency, and ask if it is recommended that you drive yourself to the hospital. If the answer is yes, ask the operator to provide directions to the nearest hospital.

2
Search online for the nearest hospital online if it is not a life-or-death emergency. Using a search engine, type in your city and the word "hospital," and websites of hospitals in your area should show up. A map will also appear that shows where each hospital is located, so you can choose the one closest to you. Or, find a hospital by going to USHospitalFinder.com and searching for your city. Call the hospital of your choice for more specific directions if needed.

3
Use a phone book, alternatively, to find your nearest hospital if it is not an emergency situation. Search your phone book under hospitals, and call the hospital of your choice, using the phone book's contact information, for further directions.

Look for blue street signs with a capital "H" if you are on the road. These signs will further direct you to the hospital. They are usually posted once you get off the freeway.
