Originally founded as a small sanitarium in 1905, Piedmont Hospital now boasts more than 480 beds and 900 staff physicians at its primary location alone. Piedmont Hospital has also worked with law enforcement and safety officials in order to develop emergency procedures for terrorist attacks or natural disasters in the area. These efforts have been doubled following the events of September 11, 2001.
