Driscoll Children's Hospital Corporate History
Driscoll Children's Hospital is a 200-bed nonprofit hospital in Corpus Christi, Texas, specializing in pediatric care. As of 2009, Steve Woerner is the president and chief executive officer. Driscoll's was formed through a charitable foundation named after Robert Driscoll and Julia Driscoll and Robert Driscoll Jr., whose family had been Texas patriots for generations.-

Clara Driscoll had the initial idea of creating a children's hospital in Corpus Christi, Texas. Clara requested her estate be used to build and operate the hospital, Dr. McIver Furman was influential in the eventual creation of the hospital that opened in 1953.

Born in St. Mary's, Texas, Clara Driscoll was an important figure in saving historic buildings in Texas. She died on July 17, 1945, in Corpus Christi in the hotel named after her brother Robert Driscoll.
