Provide information about your educational background. You should mention the types of degrees you have, where you earned each degree and the date that you graduated from that school. Be sure to list all of your degrees (both undergraduate and graduate).

Highlight your work experience. Be sure to list the name of the company, your job title and the dates of employment for each position. And you should only mention your work experience that is relevant to speech pathology. Feel free to describe all of your professional work experience including internships, supervised clinical experience and volunteer work. You may also choose to include important information such as the types of patients and age groups you have worked with, your areas of specialization and the specific treatment options you have used with your patients.

Describe your credentials. Make sure that you include all certifications and licenses that you possess, the date that you received each credential, along with the expiration date for each one. All speech pathologists must have a current Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech Language Pathology (CCC-SLP), in order to practice speech pathology. So, this information should definitely appear on your resume.

Discuss your skills in your resume. You should only list your strongest skills and those that you feel comfortable using on a regular basis. For example, you may choose to mention your typing and computer competency skills (like software packages you have experience using), or other relevant skills, such as management, counseling, communication and listening skills.

Complete your resume and review it for accuracy. It is not necessary to include the contact information for your references, but you should definitely let the employers know that you have the information available for them. You can simply state “References Available Upon Request” at the bottom of your resume in bold letters and all caps. Also, proofread your resume and make the necessary corrections to it. And don’t forget to save your resume safely on the hard drive of your computer.
