How to See Where the Shoulder Ends
The end of the shoulder is known as the acromium. It's a triangular protuberance of the scapula that forms a joint with the clavicle or collar bone. Various muscles and ligaments attach here to help the shoulder and arm move through their normal range of motion. It can be found (or palpated) by using the fingers in a gently probing motion and a few simple steps.Instructions

1
Ask the patient to remove his clothing. Look at him from behind.
-
2
Identify the horizontal spine of the scapula. There are two large, triangular scapulae to either side of the spinal column. Place your fingers along the ridge of one and gently "walk" your fingers along it until the end point is reached.
-
3
Palpate the small, triangular bony prominence at the end of the ridge. This is the acromium or the end of the shoulder.
