Prometric CNA Certification

A nurse aid plays an important role in the health-care continuum. Each state has different requirements of the Certified Nurse Aid (CNA) course to qualify for state certification. Prometric is the standard testing company for most states.
  1. Complete State-Approved Program

    • Prior to being eligible to test for nurse-aid certification you must finish a state-approved nurse-aid course. In the state of Texas the minimum requirements are 51 classroom hours and 24 clinical hands-on hours with specific skills trained during those hours.

    Applying for Testing

    • After completion of state-approved curriculum you will be eligible to test. A testing fee and proof of completion of course is required when applying for testing. To apply for testing contact Prometric Testing at prometric.com. The test consists of a written portion and a hands-on skills portion; you must pass both to be successfully certified as a nurse aid.

    Testing Day

    • Prior to testing you should receive a handbook that contains the testable skills and a sample written test from Prometric. Study these materials in advance of the test.
