Arizona Respite Programs

Caring for others can be exhausting. Whether tending those with disabilities, behavioral problems or the seriously ill, every caregiver needs a break sometimes. In fact, according to the Arizona Lifespan Respite Care Network, respite care can help decrease caregiver stress, give caregivers time to spend on themselves and can help maintain in-home placements. There are several respite programs in the state of Arizona.
  1. Devereux Arizona

    • Devereux Arizona offers facility-based respite services. The facility is open from Friday afternoon to Sunday evening each week. According to the agency's website, the goal of respite care is "to successfully provide an interval of rest for the client and his/her primary caregivers without disruption or compromise to the home placement." Behaviorally challenged youths ages 4 to 17 with are eligible for respite care. Devereux's program promotes social skill-building exercises, such as encouraging personal hygiene, respecting others' possessions and following staff directions. Youths participate in a variety of positive activities, including board games, movies, swimming, rollerblading, talent shows, picnics and musical and art projects.
