Medicaid Family Guidelines in Idaho
While Idaho has several Medicaid programs available to individuals depending on their circumstances, the Basic Plan offers free or low-cost health care coverage to low-income families with children. Apply for Medicaid benefits at your local health and welfare office or by calling 1-800-926-2588.-
Basic Eligibility

Applicants must be U.S. citizens or legal residents residing in Idaho. Children and adults with dependent children under age 19 may be eligible for Medicaid benefits under the Basic Plan.
Income Limits

With a family of three, adults may receive Medicaid if their gross monthly income does not exceed $317. However, pregnant women and children in the same family may be eligible if the household income does not exceed 133 percent of the Federal Poverty Level, or $2,030 per month. Assets such as property and vehicles may be used to determine Medicaid eligibility for adults.
Responsibilities

You must report income and family changes to the health and welfare office to remain eligible for benefits. Additionally, you are responsible for choosing physicians that accept Medicaid as payment.
Benefits

Benefits include but are not limited to preventative care, medical treatment, hospitalization, dental care, chiropractic treatments, vision coverage and mental health services. Some services require preauthorization in order for Medicaid to pay for treatment.
