Arkansas Medicaid Income Requirements
Before applying for Medicaid in Arkansas, you should fully understand the state's rules and requirements. The amount of income that can be earned to qualify depends on which program you apply for, but you must make less than a certain amount of money each month in order to qualify for most Arkansas Medicaid programs.-
The Elderly or Disabled

If you are elderly, blind or disabled and receive Supplemental Security Income (SSI) from the social security administration, you will be automatically enrolled in the Arkansas Medicaid program. If you are disabled but do not receive SSI, as of 2010, you can make up to $2,256 per month to qualify as an individual, or up to $3,035 per month to qualify as a couple.
Children

ARKids is the children's Medicaid program of Arkansas. There are two versions of the ARKids program available to Arkansas residents. ARKids A is a program provided to residents with very limited resources. It provides complete health care services with no co-pays. ARKids B is a program designed for residents who have more resources but still cannot afford private insurance. ARKids B provides all of the benefits as ARKids A, but a small co-pay is required for most services. ARKids Income limits depend on the size of the family that applies. A family of four can make up to $2,444 per month and still be eligible for ARKids A. The income limit of ARKids B is up to $3,675 for a family of four.
Pregnant Women

Arkansas offers a Medicaid program for pregnant women through the Sixth Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act (SOBRA). If a pregnant women qualifies for SOBRA, she can receive full Medicaid benefits for the length of her pregnancy up until 60 days after her child is born. Much like ARKids, the income limits for SOBRA depend on the pregnant woman's family size. A family of four can make up to $3,675 and be eligible for SOBRA.
