How to Prevent Eye Infection in a Ruptured Eye

- Eye patch
- Saline solution

Wash the eye with a saline solution. If saline solution is unavailable, use tap water. Turn the tap water to warm and turn on, with the pressure low, and lay your head underneath the water with it rinsing your eye. Dab the eye dry with a clean clothe.

Cover the ruptured eye with an eye patch or shield. Be sure not to put pressure on the eye.

Visit your doctor. Your doctor may recommend antibiotic, pain medications and surgery if the damage is severe. Your doctor may also require blood tests, depending on the injury or cause of the rupture.
