How to Apply for AHCCCS Online

The Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System is the state's Medicaid system. It provides low-cost healthcare programs for residents of the state. It is possible to apply for health care benefits online through the state's online application system, Health-e-Arizona. AHCCCS provides a variety of programs for which different residents are eligible, including KidsCare, Freedom to Work, and Medicare Savings. If you cannot apply online, mail-in applications are also available on the AHCCCS website.

      Create an account on Health-e-Arizona. You will need to provide a home mailing address and e-mail address. Do this by clicking "Begin Now!" on the site's home page.

      Compile the required information. The application will ask for information regarding the date of birth, social security number, income and asset information (including checking/savings accounts and possessions like vehicles and property), housing expenses, health insurance, proof of citizenship or immigration status, and any recurring medical expenses for people above the age 60 or disabled. You must have this information readily available for each person included in the application.

      Complete the application. According to the AHCCCS, it takes between 20 and 45 minutes to complete depending on how many people you are applying for. You should receive notification for most programs within 30-45 days, except for Emergency Nutrition Assistance, which reports within seven days.
