Can you claim medical expenses for a parent that paid?
In general, you cannot claim medical expenses for a parent that they have paid for themselves. However, there are a few exceptions:- If you qualify as a dependent, your parents can claim your medical expenses.
- If you have a dependent care flexible spending account (FSA) or health savings account (HSA), and you use the money from the account to pay for your parent's medical expenses, you may be able to deduct the expenses.
