What Is the Average Wait Time for the VA to Complete an 8416 VA Expense Report?

Certain medical expenses incurred by a veteran receiving benefits through the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) are reimbursable. To be reimbursed, the veteran must complete VA Form 8416.
  1. Types

    • Medical expenses paid by the veteran for hospital services, office visits, medications, dental services, transportation for medical services, nursing home and home health services, hearing aids, eyeglasses and medical insurance premiums are reimbursable expenses.

    Requirements

    • To complete the form, veterans must supply the purpose of each claim, the amount and date paid, the provider information for each service or equipment being claimed and for whom the claim is being filed.

    Wait Time

    • Each claim is submitted to a committee for review. The review process can take between 30 days and 90 days.
