Productivity Analysis for Rehabiliation Therapists
Rehabilitation services include physical therapy, occupational therapy and speech therapy. Many facilities analyze the productivity of their therapists to assess revenue generated by rehab services versus salary and related expenses of the employees providing the service.-
Billable Time
-
Rehabilitation services are generally billed in 15 minute units although the billing procedure is dependent on the type of medical setting in which the services are delivered. These units refer specifically to the time a client is receiving their therapies and it is considered billable time.
Non-Billable Time
-
Rehabilitation therapists are required to perform other duties including documentation, meetings, phone calls and equipment maintenance. These duties do not generate revenue and are referred to as non-billable time.
Productivity Analysis
-
The productivity of a rehabilitation therapist is analyzed by taking the total amount of billable time in minutes and dividing it by the total number of minutes worked. The resulting number is the percentage (out of 100 percent) of time the therapist was considered to be productive. Companies may analyze this data monthly, weekly or daily and frequently use it to make staffing decisions.
