Is an ND a medical doctor?

A Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine (ND) is a licensed healthcare professional who practices naturopathic medicine, a system of medicine that emphasizes the use of natural therapies to treat and prevent illnesses. Naturopathic doctors are educated in conventional medical science and additional training in natural therapies such as nutrition, herbal medicine, acupuncture, and homeopathy. They are licensed to diagnose and treat medical conditions, perform physical examinations, order lab tests and interpret results, and prescribe natural therapies.
