Does a medical assistant need to be certified in Colorado?
To be eligible for certification as a medical assistant in Colorado, an applicant must:
- Be at least 18 years old
- Have a high school diploma or equivalent
- Have completed an accredited medical assisting program
- Pass the Colorado Medical Assistant Certification Exam
Once an applicant has met these requirements, they can apply for certification through DORA. The application fee is $100 and the certification exam fee is $150.
Medical assistants who are certified in Colorado are required to renew their certification every two years. The renewal fee is $50.
