How many doctors are there?

As of 2020, there were an estimated 13.4 million physicians worldwide, according to the World Health Organization (WHO). This number includes both medical doctors and doctors of osteopathic medicine. The distribution of doctors varies widely across countries, with some countries having a much higher density of doctors than others.
