LP stands for *Licensed Psychologist*. They can provide many of the same mental health assessment and psychotherapy procedures as licensed psychiatrists and counselors do but are legally prohibited from prescribing medications in most jurisdictions. An LP may also refer to *Licensed Practitioner*. These are medical professionals authorized to offer diagnosis, care, or consultation within specific specialties or types of healthcare services.
