If podiatrist go to medical school, why is he called "doctor"?

A podiatrist is a doctor of podiatric medicine (DPM) who has undergone four years of podiatric medical school and three years of podiatric residency training. They are licensed to diagnose and treat conditions of the foot and ankle, and are the only healthcare professionals specifically trained to do so. Podiatrists are not medical doctors (MDs).
