Medical Colleges in Europe

Home to countries such as England, France, and Italy, Europe is also the setting for a large number of medical colleges located throughout the continent. These colleges offer programs in medicine and dentistry in addition to clinical studies and medical research. Some schools also provide international instruction on satellite campuses in other countries, or through joint partnerships with medical organizations in other countries.
  1. University of Debrecen

    • The University of Debrecen Medical Center is located in Debrecen, Hungary. With more than 20 departments and 27,000 students, the school trains students in the following: dermatology, clinical chemistry, surgery, orthopedics, radiology, neurosurgery, neuroscience, psychiatry, and gynecology. Additionally, the university is accredited by the World Health Organization. Upon the completion of studies, students can begin their clinical instruction on campus. Admission to the school is a three-step process. An application must be submitted along with high school transcripts or a diploma. Each applicant must provide a financial statement indicating method of payment, along with a copy of his passport. Finally, students must take the school's entrance exam.

    Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland

    • The Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI) specializes in the training of surgeons and has four schools: Medicine, Pharmacy, Physiotherapy, and Nursing. All graduates of RCSI complete programs in surgery, medicine, and obstetrics. Advanced education is available in sports medicine, radiology, and dentistry. The college also has campuses in Malaysia, Dubai, and Bahrain. Clinical studies are offered through a joint partnership with Beaumont Hospital and Rotunda Hospital, a maternity hospital. Only residents of European Union member nations are eligible to apply for admission to RCSI. Prospective students must complete an application through the Central Applications Office.

    Medical University of Lodz

    • The Medical University of Lodz, located in Poland, is central Europe's largest medical school and graduates a large number of physicians, pharmacists, and dentists yearly. The school, which runs seven teaching hospitals, provides instruction in medicine, dentistry, and pharmacy, as well as postgraduate studies. A full research department has formed partnerships worldwide with organizations such as the University of British Columbia in Canada and the Howard Hughes Medical Center in the United States. Prospective students must complete an application and undergo a qualification interview for admission.
