How to Understand EKG Results

EKG, more commonly named as ECG (electrocardiogram), is a useful test performed to check out the issues related to electrical bodily function of the heart. An EKG transforms electrical signals conducted by the heart into line tracing on the white paper with graph. The sharp rises and dips in the line tracings are called waves. To calm your anxiety after receiving the review of EKG report from the physician it is important to understand EKG results.

Instructions

    • 1

Read the first spike in the reading traced on the paper as impulses sent from the upper chamber of the heart.

    • 2

Read the dip in the EKG reading traced on the paper as relation of the muscles of the heart.

    • 3

Observe the uniformity in the pattern of spikes and dips in the EKG reading. Any sort of non-uniformity should be interpreted as a reading resulting from the presence of an issue in the heart.
