Medicare Grants

The United States government makes funds available through grants to address a variety of social issues and problems, ranging from food and nutrition enhancement to state veteran's home construction. These funds are awarded based on the strength and effectiveness of the grant proposal application. There are also grants related to Medicare. These are designed to correct issues with the program.
  1. Information about Medicare Grants

    • The website www.grants.gov is the hub for information about government grants. Medicare grants can be found here by conducting a search with the keyword "Medicare." These grants change or are eliminated as the issues they are directed towards are addressed, so it is important to apply quickly. Most Medicare grants are found under the agency Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services or directly under the Department of Health and Human Services. A few example grants are shown here.

    Medicare Rural Hospital Flexibility

    • This grant was posted on January 25th, 2010. It offered 45 awards divided among a total funding amount of $22 million. There is no award floor or ceiling (no minimum or maximum award to each grant recipient). It is designed to assist states with certified Critical Access Hospitals (CAH). The governor of the respective states will determine eligible applicants. The grant is designed to aid rural hospital finance, improve quality of hospital performance and increase emergency medical services (EMS) into these rural health systems.

    Medicare Improvements for Patients and Providers Act

    • The full title of this grant is Medicare Improvements for Patients and Providers Act for Beneficiary Outreach and Assistance for Title VI Native American Programs This grant was posted on Mar 24, 2009 . It offered 244 awards divided among a total funding amount of $246,000. There is an award floor and ceiling, both of $1000 (the minimum and maximum any award recipient can receive is $1000). This grant is only available to current Title VI Native American Programs award recipients. It is designed to fund outreach programs for elderly Native Americans, Native Hawaiians and Native Alaskans to inform them about changes to Medicare Part D.

    Medicare Beneficiary Outreach and Assistance Program
