Required Courses for a Nursing Degree

While different colleges and universities will have their own requirements, there are courses that everyone going for a nursing degree has to take, no matter what school he or she attends. These courses are required for a bachelor's of science degree in nursing.

    • Anatomy is one of the biological sciences. It focuses on the structure of the body and how the parts work together.

    Psychology

    • Psychology is the study of the functions and behavior of the brain.

    Microbiology

    • Microbiology is the study of organisms that are too small to be seen - including bacteria and parasites that can cause disease - without the aid of an instrument such as a microscope.

    Pathophysiology

    • Pathophysiology is the study of the way normal functions are changed by a disease or any other medical condition.

    Pharmacology

    • Pharmacology is the study of how a body interacts with the different chemicals in prescription drugs.
