Was Elizabeth Ann Seton a Doctor of the Church?
Elizabeth Ann Seton was not declared a Doctor of the Church, instead she was named Mother Seton. She is the first native-born citizen of the United States to be canonized as a saint by the Catholic Church, and the second American-born saint overall, after St. Frances Xavier Cabrini. She is also the founder of the first order of religious sisters in the United States, the Sisters of Charity of St. Joseph.
